05 VIDEO: WORLDS APART
DOC 234—34/2
How do scientists and engineers gather information from places in the solar system that are difficult to reach? In this video, youth meet an engineer and a scientist from NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and learn about technologies they use to study distant planets.
As lead curriculum developer for Worlds Apart: Engineering Remote Sensing Devices, a hands-on engineering unit for middle schoolers, I researched, produced and appeared in a short video that introduces youth to the field of remote sensing. I traveled to NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory to interview Tracy Drain, a systems engineer, and Ingrid Daubar, a research scientist, about their work.
